I read because I want to escape reality and find comfort. I read because I like to laugh, cry, and rejoice in the novel's climactic moment when the main character has a turning point and changes for the good. I love flipping through an old book and smelling the tattered pages. I love reading because it creates a new world to escape to when I'm feeling overwhelmed with school or anything else that is stressful. I love to read not because I'm a nerd and I love learning, but because I like to follow someone else's journey. I want to relate to them and find inspiration from them, whether they're real or not. I like when there's a serious situation, but the author stills make room for comedic dialogue. Reading is important because everyone has situations they are faced with that they're not able to talk to someone about, or that their friends can't relate to. I also think reading is important for a person who wants an open mind. Reading sci-fi/fantasy books to little children creates a whole different world for them and makes them have an open mind to new possibilities. Reading is so crucial to our lives because it makes us wonder about what could be, what has been, and how we can change our lives for the better.
